Commissioners tour Northern High replacement

09.19.2018

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners toured the new Northern High School under construction Tuesday.

The current school building, still in use, was built in the 1970s. Northern students will begin occupying classrooms in the replacement building in January 2019.

“We plan to be finished completely by the summer of 2020 with the project,” Calvert County Public Schools Director of School Construction Shuchita Warner said.

“It’s about 18 months after we’ve moved in,” CCPS Superintendent Dan Curry added.

In July 2016, the school board awarded the replacement project contract to J.A. Scheibel Inc. of Huntingtown in the amount of $69,382,000. The project broke ground in August 2016.
