New construction of a 103,737 SF elementary school in Charles County, MD. The building consists of a steel frame structure with masonry veneer on both CMU and metal stud backup exterior. Interior partitions are both masonry and gypsum finish on metal studs. All interior frames are aluminum storefront and curtainwall.
The academic classroom area was a 2-story construction. The administrative areas, gymnasium, and cafeteria are primarily single-story construction. Roofing is a white EDPM on coverboard and rigid insulation covering a low-slope structure with metal decking. HVAC is a hybrid ground source geothermal heat pump system (supplemental boilers and cooling tower). Plumbing and electrical are conventional systems. The project achieved LEED Silver Certification by USGBC.
